Training

In the 45-day basic training, participants learn the techniques and principles of the Hakomi method. They learn how nonverbal communication works and how to help others recognize their limiting beliefs and habits, as well as create a space for healing.
After the basic training, participants can further deepen their understanding of the method.

Our Hakomi training is held in a multi-level approach.
The way of creating and sustaining space in a multi-level environment allows and inspires each person to follow their own personal pace and path of learning. Practices are deepened to each individual’s learning level.

Sharing with students at different levels of learning within the same group offers a rich experience for everyone – beginners benefit from the modelling of the method by more experienced practitioners, and more experienced practitioners gain further practical experience, clarify and deepen their understanding and practical application of the method by working directly with people new to the model.

The training unfolds in 5 stages:

Stage 1
We learn to self-study, developing our own self-awareness of the present moment experience and the ability to share what we notice about ourselves with others.

Stage 2
We learn to support others in their self-study and to report what is happening. In the training, we practice the six skill sets, each of which «can be learned and practiced separately and function within a session as an integrated whole.» – Ron Kurtz

Stage 3
We learn to integrate the separate elements of Hakomi into complete sessions. These first three stages last approximately 45 days or 3 years of training, after which we will have covered most parts of the method and worked toward completing a full session. We move between these three stages.

In-person training – For certification, in-person training days are required due to the nature of the method, which is based on the body and relational connection. There will be in person modules in México for the people who can participate, there are also groups around the world you can join if they are near you. The number of days will be agreed upon in each case.

Stage 4
After completing a basic training, we practice and delve deeper into how to navigate a full session. The first three stages can be seen in a new light and refined as we deepen our understanding of the method and the practical aspects of a session.

We can work toward certification as a Hakomi Practitioner, as well as cultivate our personal development.

You are encouraged to shape your own learning and attend workshops or trainings according to your needs. Mastering the Hakomi method requires practice, experimentation, and guidance, and each person adapts their learning to their own needs.

Stage 5
After becoming certified as Hakomi Practitioners, we don’t stop learning; this is just the beginning. In the fifth stage, we re-experience the method as we did the first time. We return to the fundamentals we learned in the first three stages and try to fully immerse ourselves in Hakomi, in new ways. As we evolve, we continue to return to practicing the method from a deeper perspective. We can continue to attend Hakomi trainings to deepen our practice and enrich our lives.

«A Hakomi practitioner must be more than someone who knows a method. The practitioner must be someone whose mere presence can be healing, a person who possesses all the qualities necessary to support emotional healing in another person. HEN trainings reflect and embody this emphasis. We place more importance on presence, warmth, and kindness than maintaining a professional demeanor, and we accept people into HEN trainings regardless of their academic background. They simply need to be motivated to wholeheartedly pursue the difficult work of understanding themselves and helping others do the same. «
Ron Kurtz

This training is part of the Hakomi Education Network ( HEN), an international organization dedicated to preserving, developing, and teaching Hakomi as created by Ron Kurtz. Throughout his life, Ron made many changes to the method he called «Mindfulness-Based Assisted Self-Discovery.»

Founded in 2001, HEN is a global association of Hakomi practitioners. We have members and trainers in Europe, Asia, and North, South, and Central America who maintain a deep exchange and are committed to the ongoing development of the network.

We strive to teach the principles and practice of Hakomi worldwide, across diverse cultures, and in diverse ways. Each of us shares a love for the spirit and our unique expression of this work.
